Cotton is King

The first step in production is the sourcing of materials. A defining pillar of Modo.K's mission statement is to preserve the integrity of your items and the environment. 100% of our staple collection fabric is certified organic cotton. All of our fabrics are biodegradable, meaning they are made with breathable, natural fibers which will feel great on your body. No swimsuit fabric here!

The organic certification promotes sustainable farming practices that protect soil health, conserve water, and promote biodiversity and OEKO-TEX® guarantees that our products have been produced free from dangerous chemicals such as heavy metals, pesticides, and formaldehyde. Both of these ensure that our fabric is being produced in a way that is less harmful to the environment and to humans.

We also incorporate the use of deadstock fabric to minimize the waste from large corporations. Even so, we refuse to waver on our commitment to quality, biodegradable fabrics.

It's All About Location

Modo.K is an independent black-woman-owned business based out of Chicago IL. All items are handmade. We refuse to contribute to the growing concern of ethical treatment of workers, fair pay, and the safe and healthy working environments in many manufacturing facilities. Our collections are produced in small batches to avoid over-production and to not contribute further to the growing amount of textile waste in landfills.

But we don't stop there!

Even our shipping boxes, gift bags, packaging, and business cards are recyclable. Simply remove the tape and place the box in your everyday recycling bin. We understand that every choice we make can brings us closer to a greener future and we hope to do everything we can to see that future realized.
